I have the same issue. Usually it worked the next day or so but by now this is frequent and my P8P is missing the last 3 updates (still on 20241212).
No VPN. Tried WiFi, Mobile Data, default and automatic DNS. Nothing works. Anybody got a clue on this one? Also how to update manually? Amy risks in doing so?

Well, I dislike it, but I see your point. Again, it is not important. PC workaround is a thing, just not very handy, and in the end it is just my stupid type of humor that wants. Just wanted to know if there is some on device solution. I can live without funny edits ✌🏻
But in the end the whole approach is debatable, from a philosophical point of view. It is my phone and Meta is designing an infrastructure of dependence. Just an illusion of choice. Actually they should accept my terms and conditions to be on my phone. But the world is twisted. And I know I choose to install it, but regarding my work, I actually do not have a choice. Just an Illusionen to do so where drawbacks affect my profit. At some point they played nice, gathered millions of users, alternatives died and then boom all changed. How is that acceptable?! I am not on WhatsApp for my friends, this is just a side effect.
Also I tried to go without for years. It just did not work. Other than that, they have more than enough means to detect scammers. As my profile got copied on meta services, they automatically spotted it, I mean a second profile with the same pic and info but from a different IP. Easy. Just Instagram didn't realize that.

Well, at first I think it is none of Meta's buissness to know if I am doing a screenshot or not. This is already going to far in my opinion. I understand that there are bad actors abusing peoples identities (had issues with this myself) but if we follow that logic we could ban messengers straight away as criminals are using them too. Everything that is displayed on my screen is supposed to be seen by me anyway.
As usually it is fair to assume that a criminal mastermind will find a way around any restriction set as they have the motivation, skills and money to do so. Since I am asking here, I obviously do not have the capacity.
As far as for myself, I like to make funny edits of my friends and surprise them with these once they not expact it (even though they do by now). I can ask them sure, but that is way less fun and it kinda became thing a while ago. I have been traveling for the last 8 month and haven't been bothered to do so but now I wanted to make a fun edit and realised it is not possible anymore.
Also if this is not a satisfying answer for you that is fine. I respect your caution and opinion 🙂

That sounds good. Could you tell me the name or URL of those on device tools? So far it seems that there have been quite a few around but most stopped working recently.
Thank you. Fossify is the way to go. I actually used this on my pre pixel phone.
My solution for now is to use Fossify Apps. I create the contacts there and I use the stock app for the scopes. Basically I am using both contacts apps, as suggested in my first post. The synching issue was due to Fossify saving my new contacts as default for Molly and not on the device. And the other thing I found out,as mentioned above, that even if the stock app does not show the birthday, it is still saved in the vcard.
So this is fine for me! Thank you kindly and wholeheartedly for your help lovely people. This community is as great as the ROM (I wanted GOS for many years now...) 🙏
True. Even if it ain't showing all fields, I certainly has the information saved, if the contact has been established in Fossify.
So upon further investigating this, with my new given knowledge, it seems that the AOSP Contacts App is kinda deprecated and thus not supporting VCARD 4.0. This brings me back to my other question:
Can I somehow swap the default contacts app in GrapheneOS?
OK. Thank you. This explains the issue at least. However it is kinda disappointing that a birthday field is not present when saving to device (off topic but why the hell is that?). Anyhow, I do not want to use a server for this. I also don't need them anywhere else besides my phone. I guess I will find a workaround or another app for birthdays. This is all way to much hassle for such a simple thing.

I have been browsing around for this but I cannot find an satisfying answer. Sorry if the question is dumb but I am new to GOS. The stock contacts app does not include a field to add birthdays. As seen on Github this feature will not be implemented. So I was wondering if I can somehow change the default to the Fossify Contacts app. However, if I go to settings -> apps -> default apps, I can only choose the SMS or Dialer app, not the contacts app. Is there a way to change this?
Also, deactivating the stock contacts app prevents me from using contact scopes. I am not sure if this feature relies on the stock app or if the issues arises because I cannot change the default contacts app. If I try to a tag, contact, number or email to contact scopes, it says no contact app found (if the stock app is deactivated).
Edit: Also I would be happy to use both but there are some syncing issues. If I e.g. change the name of a contact in Fossify App, the changes do not appear on the stock App, unless I delete the contact and create it again.

I'm in for this as well. This is getting more and more annoying. Not even just banking apps also new updates from Meta services like WhatsApp. I want to screenshot what my screen is showing me. This is my buissness. Please reconsider the priority for this. Thank you!
