Pixel 6a, videos downloaded from libretorrent are not showing in files app.

I don't know why, but the folder/directory created for each torrent by libretorrent is visible in the files app, but the folder/directory is empty.

When I open vlc, and browse from vlc, I can see the videos.

treequell All torrents are saved in Downloads.
So ~/Downloads/MovieName/Movie.mp4
I can see MovieName (directory), but not mp4 file. But it is visible through vlc.

I went to settings, storage, there the storage increased, but nothing is there in the videos section, and shows 0 B.

Just to experiment, I created another directory in Downloads, moved the whole directory (MovieName) to the new directory, still cant see it. And in the process, lost the movie (not visible in vlc), even though I tried to move the MovieName dir back to Downloads. Had to redownload it. The last part is concerning as data integrity should be the utmost priority.

Edit: Just tried to "ls MovieName" from termux, and the files are visible.
Edit2: there is also .nfo file, which is visible through both vlc and termux, but not files app.

Hello there. You're looking in Downloads in the Files app which is a tag, and not the Download folder. That's why you don't see the files there.

You'll find the files in the Download folder.

To do that, open the Files manager > tap hamburger menu > Pixel 6a > Download.

This solves it!
I don't even know what tag is, every other OS/app I have used before showed all the files by default. Don't know what tag is and why it wont show the file.
The tag does show .flac file (music) I downloaded from browser.
Another thing to note is: in settings -> storage, under audio, I can see the audio file, but video is empty and says 0 B.

The Downloads tag lists the files in the Download directory, but it doesn't list any sub-directories. It's a strange artefact of the AOSP Files app. But by default the AOSP Files app opens on the Downloads tag screen and I'm not aware of any way to change that.

That's why you had to navigate to the Download folder via the hamburger menu to see the torrented files in the sub-directory.

I have a directory there, some files inside it (which I can see), another directory inside that directory, and files inside it too, and I can see them all. Its just with the torrent ones. Weird.

Ah interesting, thanks for the feedback! There must be some way that the Android system does not consider torrented files to be downloads. Note that I'm not a developer myself, and more of a curious user.
