Upstate1618 Newer devices launch with newer LTS kernel branches. Devices may move to a new LTS branch but it's disruptive and causes a lot of regressions in practice. There's an upstream port for the Pixel 6 kernel to the 5.15 and 6.1 LTS branches along with a port to a newer non-LTS kernel release. That doesn't mean it will move to either 5.15 or 6.1. They might skip those and move to a later one. Pixel 8 will almost likely need to switch LTS kernel branches a couple times before end-of-life. It remains to be seen how this is going to work out.
