Hello all,
Following the update that went out on the 11th or 12th of this month, I started experiencing weird input issues on the screen. Before I proceed with describing the issues, I acknowledge this could be a hardware issue. The phone has not been dropped or put through anything that it hasn't experienced hundreds of times in the past. Hoping for a software solution before I throw money at the problem.
Lock screen:
The screen will often stay on, as though something is periodically touching it to keep it awake. When this happens it doesn't even dim. Note: Screen time-out settings are untouched and the normal, expected behavior is for the screen to eventually dim and then turn off entirely.
When trying to use the quick settings drop-down menu the phone will try to close it on me. It's like some other input is swiping up while I'm swiping down.
Portrait orientation (unlocked):
Apps will randomly minimize. To be clear not a crash. I see this most with NewPipe but that is what I use most often so it's probable that other apps would also do this.
The quick settings drop-down menu will randomly appear. When this happens it will sometimes behave erratically and go up and down or make it halfway down the screen and quickly vibrate up and down
Rarely, when trying to type the keyboard will either not register my input or register it as though I'm rapidly pressing it. Haptic vibration corresponds with the lack of input or quick inputs. Locking and unlocking the phone will often fix this issue.
In NewPipe when viewing a video the phone will stop playing the video and load the previous video.
Landscape mode (unlocked)
NewPipe will randomly rewind, dim the video, or mess with the volume via on-screen input. For those who may not use NewPipe, the dimming, volume, and rewinding are normal behaviors for the app. The issue is that it's doing it without me touching the screen.
Other apps would probably exhibit weird behavior but I only go into landscape orientation when using NewPipe.
The issue persists through reboots. The most recent update that went out today did not fix it.
While the phone will exhibit most of the issues described above without any input on the screen it is worth noting that when I touch the screen it still behaves as though it's receiving other inputs. It's especially frustrating since I have to 'fight' with it to get it to do what I want often. At times it feels like a series of screen inputs were recorded and they're being replayed on my screen over and over again.
Lastly, I'm the original owner of the phone and I've been using it since it first came out. The phone has never been repaired, seriously damaged, dropped, or anything along those lines. Aside from tweaking settings to my preferences the phone is unmodified, meaning no custom launcher or debug menu tomfoolery. My apps, outside of the ones shipped with GOS are from the Play Store or F-Droid and they're apps that I think most would consider reputable.
Thanks in advance for any help you all can provide.
