Any news about face unlock for Pixel 8?

It would be possible to support the Pixel 8 face unlock but it's a very low priority for us.

Can anyone flesh this out a bit?

Why low priority? Would face unlock be difficult for GOS to implement/maintain?

I'm willing to bet that many P8 series owners would LOVE to see this come to GOS.

I suspect you're right.

But there are also features that many P8 users and P7 users and P6 users and Fold users would benefit from...

(Some of those features might be useful to Tablet users too.)

Every app bug detected via MTE on a P8 is a bug the app silently has on every other device.

Also, It seems likely that future Pixel devices will have MTE (whereas face unlock for Pixels has come and gone before).

[deleted] unless something has changed, apps can detect if the location is set via that feature.
