MoonshineMidnight In the U.S., cops/FBI will just get a search warrant
Oh no. The FBI just admitted on a congressional hearing to doing almost a million searches without no warrant whatsoever.
MoonshineMidnight I'm sure the NSA has their own version of Pegasus (how else did they hack Angela Merkle's cell phone?), but there is no evidence it has ever been used on a U.S. citize
They don't need to. 5-eyes agencies spy on other 5-eyes countries' serfscitizens and share the findings with each other.
MoonshineMidnight They don't want that coming out in court with discovery, unless they use parallel construction and get you with a Pegasus-like attack and then make up another way they busted you to cover for the Pegasus-style attack.
That's it. Lawless surveillance surely doesn't go to court. It's a means to finding a way to "bump" into some random evidence that will justify a warrant. But that's regular court. Very likely they have no issue presenting illegal spying in FISA courts.
