Pixel 7 vs 8

I am quite tempted to upgrade from my 7 to the 8 because of the black Friday sale plus trade in I would basically get it for free. Is it worth it?

Define "worth it."

There's no correct answer. Buy the phone, use it and see what you think.

My opinion is that the P7's screen size is pretty perfect and that the 8's screen size is too small.

The flipside to that is that the 8's screen is 120hz vs the 7's 90hz -120hz is noticeably better and totally worth the upgrade, IMO.

E24 you practically just got the 7, as it has been on the market for only a year. What's the need for a new one already? There does not seem to be a pressing need, judging by your post. If anything, people who get new phones every year just encourage the generation of e-waste.

i tried upgrading from my 6 pro to the 8 pro and returned th 8 pro as i didn't see enough upside for my usage.

if my cracked screen will last for 1 more upgrade cycle i will wait. The 8p was nice but i really couldn't see how my digital life would be any better.

i put the money to a pixel tablet instead (with GOS of course). very happy with the end result

lcalamar I'll get a tablet once I get out of college. Yeah If I don't upgrade now I'll wait until the 11 comes our before upgrading

DeletedUser115 those reasons are why initially I upgraded to the 8P. All valid. However for my usage none of the things really improved my daily experience.

You are correct the display is better but unless they are side by side with a 6 or 7, it isn't readily apparent. I will say that the flat screen is a big improvement over the curved sides of the 6P

router99 there isn't exactly a direct need there are just some things I like about it more plsu the fact that it would practically be free is the only reason I'm considering. Otherwise I'll wait until the 11 comes out before upgrading most likely

E24 and the security upgrades

Call me old skool on this, but I'm running my 6 (stock Android) and 6a (GOS) into the ground. I have 2 years/11 months of security updates to go on the 6 and 3 years/8 months on the 6a. Unless something revolutionary comes out that is new, I'm getting what I paid for for a while (and I paid a discount as I wait about 6 months after release of a new phone). Used to be some years back you needed to upgrade an Android phone every year to get some great new tech features that were seemed to always be coming out. That curve has really flattened. I am fine with the speed, screen resolution, size and cameras on what I have. Not a power user or gamer. I prefer most online stuff I do on a laptop and I am self-employed working at home so I have easy access to a secure personal laptop, which syncs with much of the stuff I have on my phones like e2e email, e2e notes apps, etc.
