Ubuntu 22.04 LTS Brave from SNAP installer

Hi,

Is it safe to use brave on Ubuntu to install? I see there is some warning about using Chromium on ubuntu due to snap, and I want to play it safe and not brick my phone if Brave also has a snap issue.

I could just use google chrome on ubunutu, but does that have the same snap issue? And downloading any google chrome is less than describable

protonuser2 The website says that because WebUSB is broken in those releases. I haven't actually tried this, but it seems to me that, logically, if WebUSB is broken, then the browser cannot even connect to the phone to break it.

Either way, Pixels are reportedly very hard to brick. If you run into a problem, just try a different browser or different cable and try again.

As far as I know it's usually a bad idea to use flatpack browsers and has lead to many forum posts asking for assistance. There's also a paragraph on the website:

You should avoid Flatpak and Snap versions of browsers, as they're known to cause issues during the installation process.

I had the snap problem with both Chromium and Brave so I installed Edge, which comes as a .deb package rather than a snap/flatpak, and that worked fine.

I followed all the steps on from the documentation, and ... no success to flash the GrapheneOS using Ubuntu 24.04.1 and Brave (version v1.70.123)
I have android-sdk-platform-tools-common/noble,noble,now 28.0.2+9 all [installed]
all ready, but the step to unlock the bootloader can´t find the phone when I connect the usb-c cable.

I tried the same process on a MacOS using Google Chrome and no issues.
Any ideas if Brave still supported?

If the Brave that is installed on Ubuntu had any issues with the WebUSB then I would not be able to use my yubikey or flash other devices like LoRa devices like I do.
Not sure where to look for anymore, not a lot of information around this issue - I see a lot of people found a different way, like using a different browser or a different method, but using Brave? nothing on it. Maybe not compatible anymore?
Or is there anything special that needs to be done on Ubuntu 24.04.1 ?
