I use my phone as a hotspot, esp when I travel with a VPN, however data caps/roaming yadda yadda yadda...
I don't want my carrier to know when I'm tethered, or at least set up a local connection to let me dl within the phone that's sent over to a network drive on my laptop. Wifi antennas are preferably off.
I know that some apps might allow for this by re-routing, but are there open source options for the android side? I know a few apps in windows that allow for downloading on one PC while streaming into a tv via UPnP, but I'm trying to pull large zips from a FTP server.
What is android even sending to the carrier about this? Is AOSP required to flag tethered internet as hotspot data?
