autmatic login in wifi school does not work

so when i am on school and i select there wifi signal, than automatically grapheneos browser opens and a website from school appears where I must enter my student name and password if i want to use there wifi.

The problems is.. the grapheneos browser doesn't ask if i want to safe my username and password.
For other websites grapheneos browser always ask if i want to safe it but not for this one.

Now i need to manually enter my username and password every day and that is a pain in the ass. Especially the password because the password contain an uppercase letter, a number, a haiku, a gang sign, and the blood of a virgin.
So very annoying.

how can i fix this?

It's possible your school's wifi network will save your device's MAC address so that you don't have to re-authenticate every single time, but, by default, GrapheneOS will use a new MAC address each time you connect to even a known wifi network. You can try the following while logged in to the owner profile to set up your phone to use the same MAC address each time you connect:

Settings > Network & internet > Internet > Saved networks > *your school network* > Privacy > Use per-network randomized MAC

It may be the case that what you are seeing is not the browser in its regular form but instead it acting in "captive portal" mode. I would not be surprised if Vanadium used incognito mode to handle captive-portal situations, in which case I bet it won't save passwords. But you might be getting an 802.1X window instead.

Does the login screen you are getting look like the login screen your school gives your desktop browser, or is it just a bare username/password dialog?

Try the suggestion other8026 made. If that doesn't help, report back about what kind of login window you are getting. Maybe include a screenshot of the login window if you are comfortable with that.

i tried this couple day ago
still i need to type my username and password again and again and again.
it does not save it.

yourmother okay. It all depends on how your school does it. My old school used MAC addresses and certificates somehow. I was guessing they had you authenticate again because it was a new MAC address. Worth a try.

If you don't want to log in every time, you'd probably want to ask your IT people how to do it. As far as I know, MAC address randomization is the only thing unique to GrapheneOS that could possibly make a difference.

I'm having the same problem where I need to login to the WiFi each day.
I've just changed the network setting to "per-network random mac".
Will report back next week.
