Wifi tracking beyond MAC address

I was using a public Wifi that offers only 30min of Wifi for every device. After 30min, I clicked "forget Wifi network", and signed in again. The network somehow identified my device and prevented me from getting another 30min.

I was curious about the mechanism this network used to identify my device despite having randomized MAC address.

avidgrapher possibly when you connected to the WiFi login page a cookie was added, I have no idea if that's the case but that is the first thing that comes to mind

avidgrapher definetly use a vpn on public wifi. Anytime i didn't use a vpn i would be more likely to have issues logging in a second time
