I wanted to create this thread so we can all share what cables and docking stations are compatible with the pixel 8 on GrapheneOS.

Has anybody had any success?

I have not been able to try ant as of yet but would love to have some suggestions.

I believe that I read that there is a system property that has to be set in order to enable it. There's no sense in trying to keep a list of "compatible" cables and docking stations, its universal.

This was turned on in the latest update for pixel 8 devices if that's what you mean by system property. Or do you mean a toggle in the OS?

It's enabled for the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Nothing special is needed. It's regular USB-C DisplayPort alternate mode. You can use it with anything supporting USB-C as a DisplayPort cable or you can use it with anything supporting DisplayPort, HDMI, VGA, etc. via an appropriate adapter.

GrapheneOS I understand your comment fully, but I want to clarify. Are you saying that the option discussed here is enabled by default on GrapheneOS, making the Pixel 8 the first device supporting this both with GrapheneOS (even before the Google rom)? In the past this has not been enabled on any Pixel device, with or without GrapheneOS. Have you tested it (and could you potentially even post pics/screens)?

This is the one feature that has stopped me from purchasing newer Pixel devices, and I'd really like to know definitively whether displayport alt mode works.

ficklecanary I'd really like to know definitively whether displayport alt mode works.

If you search on this forum you will likely find a thread or two with people reporting that it sort-of works. This is consistent with Google not yet releasing it.

de0u thank you for pointing that thread out. That gives me hope. I might buy one and see if I can get it to work...

I know this has ready been discussed but I'm unable to successfully get a dock to work with display alt mode. The only cable that has worked for me has been a USB-C to display port cable. When I try to connect my USB-c dock to the pixel 8 pro the mouse and keyboard will work but if I ply the regular HDMI in it won't work. This is just with a regular USB-c hub I have. However, I recently bought a targus universal USB-c dock, https://us.targus.com/products/universal-usb-c-phone-dock-awu420gl which supports dp alt mode this doesn't work.

If anyone has successfully connected a USB-c hub to a GrapheneOS pixel 8 series and got the display out and keyboard and mouse to work at the same time could you please share what dock/hub and cables your using to get this to work

The other option is to buy this, but I don't want to keep buying them and then not working.... They are quite pricey.
