Conflicting web-install instructions: what browser for ubuntu

The install guide explicitly mentions ubuntu (I'm on 22.04, also called out as supported). But none of the browsers listed seem to meet the other stated requirements, at least from the default repos available:

5 browsers are listed as supported, but only two are available from default repos in ubuntu. One of those (chromium) is noted as not working on ubuntu. The other, brave, is only available via snap
Elsewhere the directions say "avoid [containerized] installs" (snap, flatpak, etc)

I tried brave with the listed permission workarounds, but wasn't able to get past the first step (Failed to execute 'open' on 'USBDevice': Access denied)

Is there a more complete tutorial on getting brave working? if not is there any supported path with the default repos on ubuntu? If not that, what is the supported path on ubuntu?

I un-installed the default (eg snap) Brave, and re-installed trusting their private repo.

Unfortunately the web installer now hangs after a reboot or three at installing boot - I do not believe my initial attempt to run the install from the default Brave install ever connected to the device so it likely didn't contribute to whatever issue I'm seeing BUT:

It would be helpful to clarify in the installer that Ubuntu+Brave requires setting up a custom repo. While the docs do mention containerization - they also call it out specifically w.r.t. chromium, but do not with Brave - which lead me to assume default brave would work.
