Using Orbot

I'm curious if many of you route parts of your phones traffic through Orbot (the onion network) to improve on privacy?

I use Orbot, which I think is essential for improving privacy.

I have used it a while. If you are a politician, journalist or other important figure in public life it can be useful. But for a normal user it doesn't make sense. The network runs slower and security depends mainly on you. That is my opinion.

Javcek Orbot is recommended for use with messaging applications (Signal, Telegram, Whatsapp ect) so the network isn't any slower than that.
In countries like France, which has a very strong drift towards mass surveillance (the country that most wants to break encryption in the EU), we're all potentially under surveillance.

Stewart Tell me if it is possible to use orbot only to send messages? I want to use the internet normally by setting only a private DNS.

Javcek Yes it is possible, I personally only use it for Signal, Whatsapp and Telegram.

Stewart Do you have Orbot on permanently? Does it use a lot of battery?

Javcek Yes, I use it all the time, it launches itself when the device is switched on, it doesn't consume a lot of battery, I personally have no problems.

Question Is using orbot more secure than using an app like https://f-droid.org/en/packages/pan.alexander.tordnscrypt.stable/ with the tor option on?

This app also has DNS settings which is nice so you can block ads.

Also just a second question the tor browser app from play store_ has trackers is there any way to use the tor browser without trackers?

Well, I'm not a geek and I made the same question long time ago without answer...
I use it sometime instead of vpn + tor browser or only vpn + vanadium or cromite or mull
personally I like it because of personalizations it gives, some tutorial also on YouTube
