Really? I'm not aware of that. Could you tell me what was said and where you saw this?
I haven't used Seedvault in a long time. I gave up on it completely pretty early on. But if I recall correctly, Seedvault seems to use or want to use Nextcloud as a backup location? Maybe someone from the project suggested that doing it this way isn't advised because it doesn't work when restoring due to the fact the app isn't installed when setting up a new phone/profile?

I think it depends on how you're syncing files. I don't think Nextcloud automatically syncs regular files, but it can automatically sync photos and videos. Something was messed up with the app on my phone about a year ago and it uploaded each photo 2-3 times, so I'd get a pic.jpg, pic (1).jpg, and maybe a pic (2).jpg. It's been a while, but I seem to recall the app lets you choose what the app should do if there's a conflict with picture/video files' filenames, so I guess I picked whatever option renamed and kept both files.
