Sandboxed google play auto updating

I have configured Play services and Play store not to update via google play store, Despite my preference Playstore is auto updating via playstore and Play services is keep on getting downloaded in playstore and asking me for the confirmation to update it.
I dont want to update Play services and Play store via playstore since i had issues doing it previously.

W1zardK1ng I have read a dev say that Google Play ignores any setting and just updates itself. So, unfortunately, I think the only way to keep it from updating itself is by revoking its permission to install apps.

If you're referring to the setting in Apps > Sandboxed Google Play > three-dot menu > Configure Play Store updates, then it's expected. This setting only controls whether the Play Store can update to the latest versions independently. If it's disabled, it stills auto-updates to newer versions that have been tested, as defined by GmsCompatConfig, see here: https://github.com/GrapheneOS/platform_packages_apps_GmsCompat/releases.

I'm not sure that there is a way to disable Play Store from trying to automatically update itself and Play Services. You could revoke the permission to install apps for Play Store but it will still try anyway.

I've also wondered about this, not that I have any issues with Play Store handling updates both to itself and Play services. To take a hypothetical example, if I disable Play Store's network permission, will it eventually prompt me update both through the Apps repo?

233328 What issues did you have?

few months back notifications stopped working, when i checked inside playstore the play services was stuck on installing.
I force stopped the playstore then i updated the play services manually still notifications didn't worked.
I tried uninstalling google playservices reinstalling it, then my apps for which i need notifications.
removed google account and re logged in.
Nothing worked, finally i had to reset the phone.
I don't want to take chances, so i want to keep this apps updated only via the graphene os apps app.
