Help with sound notifications across profiles

Is there any way to receive push notifications with sound across profiles/users?

Profile 1: No Google Play Services
Profile 2: Google P. S. installed with network and notifications allowed.
Both with "Send notifications to current user" enabled and both user active.

Profile 1 get push notifications from profile 2 but I need to lift/unlock the phone to see them. No sound or vibration.

I've been using gOS only since a couple of days and still getting familiar with it so maybe I overlooked some settings.

Mitis I don't use profiles like others so I'm not entirely sure, but I think you should be able to change some settings when you receive a notification. First get a cross-profile notification then tap and hold the cross-profile notification, then tap the gear, then from there you should be able to modify those notification settings.

I tried to find these settings without getting a notification first, but cannot find the entry for some reason.

Doing that it shows that the default option is activated (ring/vibrate). Tapping the gear simply leads to the main screen, so that may be a bug?

Is it possible that active notifications (sound/vibration) from a profile with Google Play Services to a profile without Google P.S. are not possible on GrapheneOS?

It does that for me now too. It used to bring up notification settings. It seems the Android System entry for notifications cannot be edited now? It could be an upstream bug or change. Not sure.

I'm not sure I understand the question. All notifications are forwarded when the forward notification feature is turned on. So, it is possible to forward notifications. In my experience, all notifications come in without delay when pushed to the phone from FCM. For example, Gmail message notifications come in immediately when I'm using another profile.

I have exactly the same issue.
Owner profile: no google

Google profile: GPS, framework, play store. WhatsApp and gmail. All notifications enabled, included cross profile, all battery unrestricted.

Banking profile: GPS, framework, play store. Banking app. All notifications enabled included cross profile, all battery unrestricted.

Not sound or vibration from WhatsApp or gmail on Google profile BUT I do receive notifications and sound from banking profile.
Also get whasapp calls on owner profile but I'm unable to switch profile and actually get the call.

Hoping for a solution.

Bimbo23 Interesting. I thought the issue could be related with having 2 profiles and one of them without GPS, but in your case you don't receive sound/vibration even between profiles with GPS...

If you're logged in to too many profiles, others will have their session ended. The limit is in AOSP, I believe, and I think I remember the number is 3 + owner. Could that be the issue?

These notifications are coming from Android System, not from the app. It's not possible to answer a call cross-profiles. So, the only real "action" that's programmed into these cross-profile notifications is one to switch profiles.

I tried ending session on my third profile (banking) and keeping only owner and Google profiles active. But nothing changed.

Yes, I get you can't actually get a call across profiles. But With regular calls I am able to switch profiles and get the call. With WhatsApp when I get the call notification on owner profile (a call from Google profile) I am not able to switch profile. Neither through the notification itself nor the regular switching method. They appear grayed out.

Are you saying that only WhatsApp calls from that Google profile get through, but other normal notifications don't? I can only think of three reasons:

you have do not disturb enabled in your Google profile
some notifications are silenced in the Google profile
the app is grouping notifications, so one notification is forwarded, but other notifications in the group are not

It's been a very long time since I read the code for forwarding notifications, so I don't really remember all the ins and outs of how it works and under what circumstances notifications are not forwarded. It's all a lot more complicated than you'd expect.

A WhatsApp call would have a different kind of notification since it's ongoing. Maybe that's why it acts so differently.
