Hello, the advantages of graphene os in a cyber security space are very impressive, but there is an issue i have, if you have a super-secure phone with an insecure desktop then its like buying a bulletproof windows but leaving front door open. So i have a few questions 1 i assume graphene os is developed on desktops/laptops, if my assumption is true, what desktops are being used? 2 If desktops are not being used, what desktops would be recommended to use for people who do use desktops for secure development? 3 if i or someone else were to create a graphene os-like os on chromebook based on chromium os, would that make any sense or is it just my hopeful dreaming?

Tuba I assume you mean operating system for the first two questions. I don't know what operating system GrapheneOS developers use and I doubt the operating system used affects the security of the project you are developing in any way. If you are asking for a secure desktop OS to use, I would say QubesOS. QubesOS is the most secure desktop OS available at the moment. This is due to the fact that QubesOS runs each process in a separate "qube" or VM and each process is isolated from the rest. If a qube was to be compromised, the compromise would be isolated with that qube. I'm not sure how good software development is on Qubes so you should do some further reading on that. I linked the website for QubesOS if you want to read their thorough documentation and see screenshots of the OS. For the third question, as far as I am aware, there is no project like GrapheneOS currently being developed as a desktop OS. [deleted] thank you for answering, i also thought qubes os is the best from my research but there is one thing that i may have worded better, when i say desktop i mean device, graphene os team choose pixels because they have a high hardware security, so i was wondering if there is a laptop/workstation/desktop that have something similar? Chromebooks maybe? Or the M2 macbooks?

Tuba I would say the security of your Desktop/Laptop would depend on both the hardware and the software that it is running. I believe that ChromeOS as an operating system is actually more secure than MacOS but I would say that the Apple Silicon MacBooks are the most secure when considering both hardware and software. I, however, have limited knowledge of Chromebook hardware security so If someone wants to correct me, feel free to do so. [deleted] thank you, i guess i might have to look a little deeper on both of the devices, the question comes from the fact that i thought about making a chromium os and graphene os based operating system for laptops/desktops, but before i start thinking about that i wanted to first choose my target device.

Tuba In that case I wouldn't use MacBooks as my target devices. Research more about Chromebooks and see what comes up. I wish you luck.

[deleted] Thank you for help, i guess a lot of reading awaits me, which i am happy about as i find IT, cybersecurity and overall tinkering exiting. But before i go, i might ask you, and others as i had a hard time finding about it, there is a device called ,,talos 2 secure workstation'' with power9 cpu, i and most other people who know about it cant afford it, so there is not a lot of people who can prove checking the device, does anyone know if this is just hype or an actual secure workstation has been made?
