Contacts app default or alternitive?

I have always use the GOS default contact app but recently added a few new contacts but forgot the names of the newly added contacts. Looking through all my contacts one by one I realized the need for me to be able view contacts by date entered so this doesnt happen again. Is there way to do this in the default contact app I am missing?
What are some other workflow reasons or features that alterntive FOSS contact apps have that you use them for?

I don't believe that's possible with the default contacts app from AOSP.

I would like to find a contacts application that allows for sorting into folders, such as 'Family', 'Work', 'Friends', etc. A single long list is tedious.

You can assign each contact a label. A label functions like a tag or folder, and can be accessed from the main menu of the app.

As an alternative, the Simple Contacts app from SimpleMobileTools has the option to sort by date created, as well as first, middle, last, and full name.

TranceSeven I like the idea of using some of the SMT apps ... is there a consensus around here regarding their trustworthiness? Obviously locking down permissions is one thing, but I'd still like to generally trust an org if I'm running their code.

Albatross I don't know about a consensus, and given the comment he made that has already been pointed out, it doesn't exactly help build a level of trust which is essentially what a lot of these apps are trading on.
I get the impression that he isn't a security specialist but more focused on privacy and ensuring that his app suite doesn't use unnecessary permissions.
Inevitably, there will be (has been) function creep and that either gets reigned in and back to core values, or it continues and the security/privacy minded users jump ship.
At the moment, I'm sticking with the suite (most of them).

What features do you need? Because there's plenty missing, although the only one I'm missing is the ability to bulk delete being exposed as a user-facing option.

I think if I ever develop demands for more modern features, I would just use Google Messages instead.

Depending on whether DineroRegnskab/PdfiumAndroid@9236635 actually updated the libraries to March 2021 (M90) versions, which is unclear to me, there are at best 5 known security issues, at worst ~80.

So needless to say I think I will be avoiding their apps. It's a pity really because when it comes to functionality they are all quite nice.

I think you're probably OK for the apps that don't open files and are separated from the internet. I think their intentions are above board in the development of the apps for privacy-conscious individuals, but the file browser app seems to have built-in PDF reader capabilities that are not getting patched in a timely manner. Obviously PDFs are a big target for exploits. I am not sure what you might have to worry about with their other apps, just depends on the app. It's ironic because their Telegram channel touts cybersecurity and privacy tips regularly.

Tbh, I think he (Tibor) was indeed being just a bit cheeky with that comment...I think he was half-joking.

While I don't know him per-se, I have followed his consistent growth and work in FLOSS apps for years now. For one, he's a "non-Westerner" and an element of some social construct may have been lost in translation. Beyond that, the guy has often displayed a dry, sarcastic sense of humor, anyway. Referring to himself atop his website as an "award-losing android developer" and such.

I think that he was indeed unclear on some aspect of CVEs but I do not believe his flippant tone. IIRC, he also took action and this whole issue was futher discussed in a later thread.

I trust his work.
