In the installation guide it says
Installing from an OS in a virtual machine is not recommended. USB passthrough is often not reliable. To rule out these problems, install from an OS running on bare metal. Virtual machines are also often configured to have overly limited memory and storage space.
However my only computer at the moment runs QubesOS, so everything is virtualized. So I wonder what would be the risks, and what would be the alternatives.
Will the device get bricked if USB passthrough fails during flashing? Or do I simply have to run it again in that case? I wouldn't mind a risk of having to repeat steps in case of something not working properly, as long as my device won't get damaged.
And as for alternatives, I have considered running a live distro from a thumb drive, however I am not sure if it is worth the hassle or if I should try it from withing Qubes.
I am sure that there are some fellow QubesOS users here who may have experience with this, if anyone can tell me about that paragraph in the guide with a bit more detail I would be very thankful.
