Signal notifications while in Do Not Disturb mode?

Maybe this was always the case, but I just noticed it and wondered if anyone else experiences the following:

When the phone is put on "Do Not Disturb" mode, is anyone still getting notifications from Signal? I was in a conference today where that became an issue, and I ended up silencing my phone entirely. Am I misunderstanding the Do Not Disturb mode? I thought it means no notifications / alerts / noises from the phone should happen?

Is there some bypass in Signal where if a contact is on one's favorites list their messages still come through? I'm on the latest 1013 build of GrapheneOS, with google play services installed.

Nah, that is the purpose of it. It is however possible to override it so there a few things you can check.

Go to Settings and:

Sound and vibration > Do Not Disturb > See if there are and disable any unwanted exceptions.
Apps > Signal > Notifications > tap on the name of the different notification categories (e.g. Messages or Critical app alerts)> scroll down to Override Do Not Disturb and make sure it is not on. Repeat for any notifaction you do not want to override.
If that doesn't work, you can also mute Signal inside the app, either temporarily or after a schedule.
Open Signals settings menu and go to Notifications > Profiles > New profile > do not add any people nor schedule, and have the Exceptions toggles turned off. Then to enable it you tap the vertical ... in the top right of the Signal main view and select Notification profile and choose your newly created profile.

Hopefully one of these work.

DeletedUser29 Thank you, you were entirely correct with option #1. Evidently I didn't have a case of using Do Not Disturb where I received Signal messages since installing GrapheneOS, and today was the first time it was an issue. Anyway, everything is working as intended. I disabled the option to receive messages from my "favorites", and all should be good going forward.

Apologies for my bumbling buffoonery before looking more closely into that bypass setting, and thank you for your help!
