de0u If you are in a position to identify the carrier, that might be useful as well.

It is a small local carrier, I don't know if it is relevant.
In the meantime I am waiting for this to be implemented (if ever).

I kicked out default launcher, with novalauncher, it appears that com.android.systemui uses less cpu. will continue experimenting...

muhaha after first night with default launcher away, the night drain was 9% instead of 30% as it was recently..

Techtrest I also noticed that the screen timeoff is often not working. The screen stays on until I switch it off via button. Rebooting the phone temporarily restores the feature. But it can return any time.

    I second this.

by "kicked out" did you just swap launchers, or disable the default launcher forcibly?
the system's launcher is responsible for the "recent apps" drawer, so it'll still run in the background

      yosk just swapped launchers.

I am not android expert but why is the com.android.systemui having constant cpu load if the screen is off and locked? ui related should sleep like a baby imho then...

Hi, having battery drain on a P8a. I got it brand new in mid December. I'm not sure which stock android version it came with, I flashed GOS A15 straight away. Not sure if this has anything to do with the battery drain. I can't get a full day without charging. Mobile network 70% and system idle 17% are the culprits. Would a factory reset fix this ?

kdf Mobile network 70% and system idle 17% are the culprits.

        Are you using 5G?

          LTE only

Also I restored from a P4xl seedvault backup. Would this have an effect ?

            kdf

I also upgraded to a Pixel 8a and the battery lasts waaaaaay less than on the previous Pixel 5 and 6a (with the same apps installed and same global usage), but I can get like roughly 2 days out of it, with moderate usage (no heavy usage like gaming or watching long videos, but rather short ones, music, mails, some phone calls, instant messaging). If I have the Private Space (were I have Google Services and some banking and ride apps) unlocked, then the battery drops even quicker.
I am not able to trust the battery usage report in the settings anymore, as I don't find it accurate regarding what uses the most battery. In my case, for the last days, it says the WiFi used 90% of the battery, when it was used for maybe an hour in the last 2 days. I connect to WiFi only at home and when needing data connection on the phone (most of the time when I'm at home I use the PC and not the phone so much) and in the rest of the time I am on LTE or no connection.

            words Are you using 5G?

Didn't see any difference regarding battery usage when I was using 5G and now when I am on LTE. So I'm not sure it really has that much of an impact on battery usage (I'm not saying it doesn't have at all, just not perceivable).

kdf Also I restored from a P4xl seedvault backup. Would this have an effect ?

Seedvault backups don't seem to be reliable, as many people stated in the forum and from personal experience.
When I had to migrate to the Pixel 8a, I set up everything from scratch.
Maybe you should try to reset it and see if the battery usage changes.
If you go that route, please report back.

Malakai, did you restore from seedvault too ?

                kdf

                No.

Hello, I am having horrendously bad battery life on a used Pixel 8 Pro with supposedly only 12 discharge cycles (but phone was first used July 2023). I restored backup a week ago on this (new to me) device from a Pixel fold. In 5 hours I will go from 100% to 15% with 1.5hrs SOT and no discernible culprit in the apps for drainage. Thats without streaming music or bluetooth connected devices. I also tried switching to LTE only and had no discernible effect. My reception is decent as well.
Idle draw according to the ampere app is -700 to -1100. Seems to go up and down.

Is there any chance the original discharge cycles were reset when I wiped and installed GrapheneOS a week ago?

zionad Edit: I downloaded a CPU monitoring app and its showing that its running consistently at 70-80% CPU usage. I checked the running processes section of the developer options and starting killing things. Made no difference. Cant figure out what app or service is doing this.

The battery cycle count was not affected when I installed GrapheneOS for the first time. I also factory reset my phone, a July 2022 build Pixle 6a every time I download the new GrapheneOS release the battery cycle count never resets.

Did a factory reset, no notable difference in battery drain. Mobile data 53% and system idle 25 % are still the largest drainers as reported by battery usage.
