I've not had any issues with the upgrade to 12, or the upgrade to 13. But the upgrade to 14 came with a few regressions...
1: whenever an animated gif is playing on screen, system performance completely tanks (still generally useable, but framerate drops to like 15.) Friend sends me a gif on messaging app, everything on screen runs choppy while the gif is playing. Scroll the conversation up so the gif isn't on screen anymore, everything goes back to normal. Same if I'm browsing a web page on Vanadium and there's an animated gif showing on that page.
2: "click-through" on notifications is unresponsive and has a delay. On Android 13, I receive a message, tap on the notification, and I'm taken to my messaging app right away. On Android 14, there is a 1 second delay after tapping before it takes you to the other app, with no visual feedback that your initial input has been registered.
3: optimizing apps step on update takes forever. On Android 13 release it finished within 30 seconds. On Android 14 release it takes upwards of 5 minutes. I figured it was normal for the initial upgrade between 13-->14 to take a while, but the upgrade from 2023100900 to 2023101100 also took forever. Is this just how system updates are going to be from now on?
