Banking app compatibility with Sandboxed Google Play

We all know that choosing GOS comes with some drawbacks and we agreed on that. One of them is probably not being able to use certain apps that we were used to or whose equivalents are not that great. I have a major question regarding Google Play products coming from Graphene's mirror version of it aka Google Play Services app. I promised myself I would touch ZERO Google products, apps, you name it (the phone itself being ONE exceptuon lol). But maybe using the mirror is not as bad? Will Google know I have an app from them?? Can someone explain? Do banking apps actually WORK when downloaded that way?

Not sure if I'm understanding this part correctly or not, but the version of Google Play that you can install from the Apps app is the real Google Play. After setting it up correctly, Google Play will update itself and Google Play Services.

So, what you'd be using would not be considered a "mirror."

You can try it. I installed all the banking apps on a separate user, as Google Play needs Internet access for SafetyNet. I don't know if banking apps work without SafetyNet, but I assume they also check key attestation, which is at the hardware level and confirms that your bootloader is locked and the system is intact.

Oh, so it does. That just means the initial download is from GrapheneOS's Apps repository, but after that any updates or app installs via Google Play are downloaded directly from Google's servers.
