Should the home screen rotate as the phone is turned?

I have auto rotate enabled, but also have the sensor permission disabled. When I turn my phone from the portrait to the landscape orientation, the home scree display does not switch from portrait to landscape mode. Should it? If it should, how do I make that happen?

dln949 I don't believe you can rotate Launcher 3 home screen and especially not with sensor permission off. Having said that, there are third party launchers like Nova or Square Home that allow you to do it from their settings. Obviously their sensor permission and Auto-rotate quick toggle must be on. Have a little search which other launcher supports auto rotating or just landscape mode, you may find one to your liking. If you must have this feature, that is. I am only saying it because a lot of apps start to misbehave or have design flaws when forced to landscape.

dln949 you can in fact rotate Launcher3 home screen. You need to ensure 3 things for that to happen. Grant sensor permission to the launcher. Enable Auto-rotate quick toggle. In launcher Home settings (which you launch tapping and holding widget-free portion of the home screen) allow home screen rotation. As a bonus you can lock the screen in landscape mode by turning Auto-rotate quick toggle off, rotating device to landscape and pressing rotate button which appears after rotation in bottom right. Allows for continuous two-handed operation.

[deleted] Thanks much. Just to clarify, I did not ask because I wanted this rotation to happen; I just noticed that using the default launcher the home screen was not rotating, and I didn't know if that was an indication of a problem or if that is how it is supposed to be.
