Google location service not working in some apps

Hello, i installed GrapheneOS a few days ago on my Pixel 7. I want to use the google play location service. I installed the sandboxed play service, i disabled the "reroute location requests to the OS" i activated the Improve Location Accuracy, gave the play service the permission to loction and nearby devices and activated WiFi and Bluetoot scanning in the location settings. In some Apps i get the locations when im inside, like google Maps and osmand, but there are two apps i would like to use, which can't get the location. The Apps are Magic Earth and Street Complete. They work somtimes when outside, seems like the need GPS. I tried both Apps on the same Phone inside with the stock Rom and both get a location fix. I don't konw it these APPs do something diffrent or if they requiere a Service not present in GrapheneOS. Maybe someone has an idea what the prolme is here.

I had a similar(?) issue... and received this response.

Upon following the instructions and changing my settings, location is working MUCH better now (probably not as private though?)

lcalamar That is what i alreay did.

treequell Yes i also reinstalled the complete OS, i switched back to the stock Rom to see the exact behavior there and reinstalled GrapheneOS. GPSTest won't help much, as the problem is not with the GPS, as i said when i am outside and have a GPS fix both Magic Earth and Street Complete can access my location, but not inside when i have to fall back to the location via Wifi.

From the information you've provided, it sounds like you have the device correctly setup to use Google Play Services for location requests.

I'm not sure why Magic Earth is not working for you whilst Google Maps and OsmAnd are. I suggest installing the GPSTest app, and having a look at the results there. That can be quite useful.

Have you tried reinstalling the Magic Earth app? I am not sure it will help, but perhaps the app does some checks only on initial install.

What happened when you tried on stock Pixel OS?

Have you contacted the Magic Earth support? I've emailed them in the past and they were helpful.

On stock android i get a location immideately also inside without GPS. I haven't contacted Magic earth yet, as it is not the only app ih have this problem with. As i wrote its the same with street complete, and i would guess there are more with the same problem, but i haven't tried any other yet. Could test it with random maps app from the play store but i im not sure if this helps. Maybe i contact magic earth an street complete.

I experimentet some more, and tested more navigation apps, some get a location lock with wifi some only with GPS, i don't know what they do differently, but its definitly not only magic earth and Street complete. I also tested it with the latest Android 14 Version.
