VLC's notification popup is using thumbnails from other user profiles

Hey, just noticed when playing tracks that vlc's notification popup is using the thumbnails from videos that are on the main user profile even though I'm playing the tracks on another seperate user profile with storage scopes enabled and I'm just wondering if thats a bug or is information being leaked between my user profiles? Both user profiles do have vlc installed, although its not setup on my main profile and permissions have been removed since I use it just so I can install it onto other profiles. I also already checked the tags and thumbnail of the tracks via easytag and its not the thumbnail of the videos from the main user profile so I already ruled that out. Should I be concerned, haha? Thank you for any help

I might not undertand your meaning, here. If the video is being played from a particular profile, then naturally, VLC sees it and populates a thumb itself. Unless you mean that you see thumbs from videos not available to the currently used profile - other vids than the ones you are playing there - I don't see the issue.

Exactly this. The weirder part is the thumbnails are only shown on the notification popup the actual audio file's metadata has the correct album cover. Thats why I'm a bit concerned whether or not vlc is accessing data from another profile. Also I apologize for replying late, I dont stay logged into accounts on my device.

So little update with the help of someone from lemmy turns out some cached data is shared from the owner profile to the other user profiles so its not as seperated as I thought but it does explain why this was occuring plus I did restart my phone to clear the cache and the problem did not continue. Not sure why this data is shared and may seem like a privacy concern but I'm sure theres some technical reason that my caveman mind cant understand, haha. Thank you all for your help

I'm curious about this, too. I should probably peruse documentation and then start a new thread if it's still unclear. But yeah, I was under the impression the profiles were indeed secure from one another.

ezlover yeah this thread is pretty dead so recreating one would be a better option for you, haha. Personally, I couldnt really find which low risk directories are being shared across profiles within graphene's docs but again I'm not the best researcher. I wish you luck and can't wait to see what you find. If you're wondering, the "problem" can still be recreated in my particular case by just giving access of videos on the owner user profile and letting vlc cache the thumbnails.

yore user profiles. Specifically my "owner" profile and my "going out" profile. I call the owner profile my "main" profile if that clears any confusing

Edit: Wait until GrapheneOS releases the Android 14 update then check if it still occurs. Then open an issue if it persists.

Could it be, that this is due to the fact that some media is playing across profiles?
I dont use my owner profile very much, but i remember playing Songs would continue in another Profile, therefore maybe getting the thumbnail from the playing notification.

FlyingRacoon I honestly dont know anymore haha. I'm starting to think it is a bug maybe and should've of reported it but think I'm gonna wait til the latest update to see if it continues.

But that would be a huge issue, not a reasonable explanation, no? Perhaps that's what you meant as well. This is potentially disconcerting; files should not be shared at all between profiles.

Update 2: Just installed the latest stable release and that seemed to do the trick. I can no longer replicate it so it should be assumed that it was a bug and not on purpose as I previously thought that caused the thumbnails to be viewed on another profile. I'll keep this updated if it occurs again. Appreciate everyone's input and help. Not sure how to add the solved tag
