Questions about profiles with SMS/calls disabled

If I am using another profile with this option disabled, and I do not have that profile set to airplane mode, what happens with incoming texts and calls? Will the messages and calls simply just be lost and not visible in my main profile?

Airplane mode is a global setting, not per profile. The mobile data toggle is only available on the owner's profile.
I suggest familiarizing yourself with how profiles work and outlining some advantages/disadvantages of using profiles. Of course, you are free to experiment.
With calls and messages disabled for a specific profile, when you are active on it - you can receive incoming calls but can't place calls. You can't receive and can't send text messages.
Please note, that even with calls and messages enabled for a specific profile, you can't use other SMS apps except the built-in one.

Thanks, that is actually what I am doing, hence my question.
Before I insert my SIM, I want to ensure my phone will operate the way I desire.
If I disable SMS and calls for other profiles, and I am using those profiles without airplane mode, I want to ensure that my SMS messages will still come through and be accessible when I switch back to my main/owner profile.

I have not done this, but I believe SMS messages arrive onto the phone regardless of which profile is active, and the setting controls whether the Messaging app in the other profile gets a copy.
