Pixel 4a Data Transfer

I have a Pixel 4a, and it doesn't let me transfer some pictures/videos. And if I plug in an SD card reader for a dashcam I can't see any of the videos from the card, it says the card has to be formatted. The card/reader works fine on the computer.

Android can read the following: FAT32, Ext3, Ext4, exFAT (on newer devices, 6th Gen+)

Also GrapheneOS blocks USB peripherals etc from working until the device is unlocked. Ensure your phone is unlocked before connecting to another device.

I am not sure what the SD card is formatted in, I will see if I can change it to one of the ones you mention.
I will also check those settings before retrying the SD card.

And sorry for not being super clear.

By that I mean when i plug in the phone I can move a few of the pictures/videos but not all of them. I just went to do it again to get the specific wording of the error, and it worked now. Could it have "timed out" for lack of wording on my end?

Quite possible, another user had the same issue on Debian where Bulk Transfers or large files failed over USB which was a known issue for that particular distro.

There are a lot of variables when transfering from your phone with that being the least concern when it connected to a desktop, from cable USB standard, port USB standard and desktop OS configuration.

So long as it worked let me know how you get on with the SD card still though.

The SD card is exFAT, so I guess my phone is just too old for it? (Pixel 4a)

I came to this question on the forum because I couldn't transfer files between my Pixel 4a and my PC.

FYI to anyone else having my issue, when you plug in your Pixel 4a with GrapheneOS to your PC, you need to check the Notifications, which will allow to go to a screen where you can change from "charging" status to "file transfer" status. If you don't do this, the PC will mount your phone, but you won't be able to see the phone's folders/files.

Cigurd Another FYI--if you have Do Not Disturb turned on, this process will get interrupted, so turn off Do Not Disturb before you plug in your phone.
