IMEI number in exchange for Pixel Buds Pro - yes or no?

I bought a new Pixel phone and Google runs a program to receive the Pixel Buds Pro if you send them your receipt + device IMEI number.
After doing general research, this IMEI number is advised to be kept secret in some forums, so I just wanted to check with folks here to see what the general consensus would be for this kind of a deal?

The IMEI number only identifies the device and has no particular relationship to the subscriber. What identifies the subscriber is the IMSI number which is stored on a SIM card.
