No 2-way communication between phone and watch

I'm using a Pixel 6a with the most recent version of Graphene OS and sandboxed google play. I have a Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. The watch will receive information from my phone (notifications, calls, etc.) with no problem. However, the phone will not receive any data from the watch. It does not send any step count, health data (pulse, stress, etc.).

It seems like that I'm missing some setting in an app that needs to be turned on.

Does anyone have this working? Any help would be appreciated.

I can't speak for Samsung watches, I was never much of a fan although, I really do miss their MST from one of their original gear watches...

I use Garmin Fenix 6s. Allows for contactless payments, without requiring phone tether. Meaning You could leave your phone behind or it could die and you could still make purchases with the watch.

As another user previously stated I would double check your permissions, especially for network; You may need even need to toggle the compatibility layer inside app settings.

At the end of the day though it's Samsung, and they don't like to play nice with anyone else other than Samsung

I only enable Nearby Devices when connecting the two. This applies to Play Services and Watch 5 app since Nearby is trying to communicate all day even when BL is off. Don't have the compatibility on you mentioned. Can also run "remote connection" through router with a VPN and they communicate with no Bluetooth on. I only turn on Network to update the app or to sync with account. Everything works without that as well. Could it be a setting in your watch?
