Help! Accidently deleted users/contacts with wasted apk. AnyChances to recover?

Hi everyone

hapily installled wasted via fdroid before I put my phone for some rest and headed on holidays.

After not using my phone for two weeks I discovered my phone with only my owner profile and a new random User 1 profile opened. Contacts were saved in my former communication user profile. All gone.

Any possibility how to revert at least part of what has been deleted? Any chance to retrieve anything?

No backups saved (learned my lesson now)
No logs (clearly unpracical in this situation)

I operate my phone with max privacy and anonymity in mind, never wifi, as much services deactiveated as possible. Sometimes carelessly mimiting system aps without really checking what they actually do. That was stupid. I had Multipe profiles for different usages, no google services installed. Aurora which was installed in communications profie was suddenly found in owner profle. Does wasted move apps between prolfile as it pleases? I dont know how this ws triggred. Is it possible that everything what is gone is just hidden?

There is little reason to believe that something else changed this, right?

Any divise would be appreciated. Or is reset simply the best optionm and live with the damage?

Hello! I'm not familiar with wasted, but if it's been deleted it's gone, you won't be able to retrieve it. Know what you are protecting against and don't mess with the default system services, that will only cause trouble for no benefit.

You are right. I mostly restricted apps like Aurora they seem to add lots of services that seem to collect information.

So you say that all processes by graphene and stock app can be left as they are?

Also I wondered the other day if orbot is installed in owner profil, do I need another Orbot in every additional profile?

conatus Yeah you would need it in each profile same with vpns.

Deleting whole profiles reliably prevents recovery of the data due to hardware integration. Deleting data like contacts or files without deleting the whole profile doesn't reliably prevent it from being recovered but does prevent it in practice unless you have a local root exploit to get control of the OS and directly access data from the SSD to find deleted data that's not yet overwritten.
