I've already removed a few posts in this thread.
To the usual suspects, this isn't going to become another battlefield for arguments, and if the same behavior continues, the moderation team will have to step in.
For the actual on-topic discussion part, thanks for sharing, @Subliminal!
One thing that it feels like is sorely missing here is the fact that it basically portrays GrapheneOS as "that Android OS without Google Play Services".
Though Sandboxed Google Play is mentioned, and that feature is pretty unique in the AOSP OS world, it's far from the only feature that GrapheneOS brings to the table, and it's just a big shame that all of the other cool stuff seem to be neglected. :)
No "Google stuff" (if we excuse the fact that the entirety of AOSP is basically Google code) is one thing, but it's not really all that much of an achievement. AOSP doesn't come with it in the first place, and while yes, as I mentioned above Sandboxed Google Play is a great feature, I find a lot of the other (mainly under the hood) changes to be a lot more compelling.
That said, if the article is meant to be read by the average smartphone user, hardened_malloc isn't very likely to excite, but I think GrapheneOS offers a lot of features that I think everyday folks would appreciate, if only they knew having them was possible. Examples being Storage Scopes, Contact Scopes etc.
But yeah, if I had to narrow down and laser-focus my feedback, I'd say, this just focuses too much on "Isn't Google bad?" and less on all the (imo) wonderful stuff GrapheneOS does!
