Thanks to this great thread I gave InnerTune a try and it's really amazing as a Spotify alternative. What confuses me is that Aurora (and I assume Play Store) now offers to update the App Max Music Player which looks like an exact copy just with different name. Another weird thing: When I blacklist the app in Aurora, it shows again as InnerTune on the blacklist. My best guess after researching this forum is that this is all about the APK signature being the same for both apps.
I installed InnerTune via Droid-Ify from the F-Droid Repository.
So my questions are:
- How is it possible that the app gets recognized despite having a different name? Does the APK Signature not take the app name into account?
- If the Play Store copy was infested with malware or tainted in other ways, can it be assumed that Aurora wouldn't register it as the same app and offer to update it (because the APK signature would change)?
I have still much to learn and am grateful for any answers or links that explain this to me.
