Paflechien Hi everyone, does anyone know if the APK version of signal updates itself? I haven't found any menu to enable or disable such an option.
GrapheneLover Yes, you will receive a notification when a new version is released, it will tell you to update. It will only do it once (at least for me) so if you swipe it away you won't see a new version upgrade until the next one.
Paflechien GrapheneLover Okay thanks, isn't there a button to select updates like in molly? It seemed to me that at one time signal had this
MoonshineMidnight You will get APK update notification. Make sure you use APK from Signal website. Same for Proton Mail/products.
GrapheneLover Paflechien There may be, but I'm not sure where it is, I've tried clicking the version number on the app and it doesn't do anything and I've looked through the app and can't find it.
[deleted] Paflechien Their presence in Settings > Apps > Special app access > Install unknown apps might give you a hint. But if there not there, they don't self-update.
MoonshineMidnight Paflechien Mail does for me. Not VPN. And it does not update itself. It prompts you to manually update.
[deleted] Not all of Proton AG's app's versions are up-to-date on their GitHub pages. If you use their apps and don't want to use Sandboxed Google Play, you can use something like Obtainium to track their release updates.
