ahawez Going to get my first android in for like 5 years with the main purpose of using encrypted messaging apps. I'm stuck between a 6a and 7a but the thing is they're pretty much the same price, differing like 30 dolares. Is the 7a worth the extra 30 bucks? I'm assuming the 7a is the best but just asking if maybe something is way bettter on the 6. Things I prioritze(?). Security Performance Sidenote, are there any tweats that act as a "panic pin remove data"?
de0u ahawez Is the 7a worth the extra 30 bucks? The 7a is scheduled to be supported for almost a year longer: https://endoflife.date/pixel
treequell ahawez Is the 7a worth the extra 30 bucks? Definitely, I'd say. The 7a is quite a significant upgrade in hardware compared to the 6a.
[deleted] I would do some research to compare and contrast the two to see which one meets your needs/wants the most.
[deleted] Re: security - always go for latest. Re: performance - always go for latest. I am on 6a, the best selling pixel of all times (and happy with it). But pick 7a, the last A line pixel with better hardware. There will be no 8a, so they say.
MoonshineMidnight [deleted] Yup. Love my 6a, but pay the extra $30 for 7a for extended security updates.
BalooRJ I picked up the 6a because it was over $100 cheaper than the 7a, but the 7a will get security updates for much longer.
spring-onion It's a no-brainer if the difference is that small. Performance bump, longer support duration, camera upgrade, 90 hz screen and wireless charging (albeit slow).
kpsmmr The price difference is bigger in the UK - but I went for the 7a, purely based on the difference in camera. I use the camera more than any of the other functions
