I am aware that BeReal is not a privacy friendly application; however, it is currently an app I use. I am having some trouble getting more recent versions of the app to launch on GrapheneOS. I have Google Play services installed, as BeReal requires it to be installed in order for the app to run.
BeReal on the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bereal.ft
When I launch BeReal, it hangs on the splash screen and freezes. It never passes this screen and it does not ever show an "app not responding" dialog.
I checked the system logs to see if I could find anything that might be causing issues. I found this in the logs:
Fatal signal 11 (SIGSEGV), code 2 (SEGV_ACCERR), fault addr 0xb400006444412000 in tid 28856 (com.bereal.ft), pid 28856 (com.bereal.ft)
I am aware that GrapheneOS features a hardened libc to prevent memory corruption. Is this related to this error? Is there a way to get around the error? Is the error even related to the app hanging on the splash screen?
I have tried toggling exploit protection compatibility mode, and that has no effect on BeReal freezing up like this. Previous versions of the app DO work, by the way. It's just the last couple of updates that have given me trouble.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
