  • All images suddenly gone from gallery

Suddenly all my photos are gone from my gallery. I also cannot find anything in my images storage (0%), nor in my recycle garbage can.
Does this have anything to do with reboot? This is set to 12 hours, but I've never had problems with that.
Is this known to anyone?

The gallery of GrapheneOS itself. I currently have not done any abnormal actions last days. As Paflechien says, I think everything has been erased. The question is just how could this happen....

MorananaroM nor in my recycle garbage can.

I have never experienced this nor have I ever heard of this happening, so this must have been something done on your end. The app also does not have a "recycle garbage can" so I have no idea what you're trying to refer to.

I only asked if this was known to someone. I am not referring to anything and I am certainly not breaking the OS, quite the contrary. Apparently a pity incident. As I said, I took no special action or anything. So I was stunned that my gallery (from camera) suddenly is empty.

MorananaroM Android supports a trash feature but few apps support it, and AOSP apps like Gallery don't use it since they haven't been actively developed since before it existed.

MorananaroM By deleting it using an app like Files or Gallery, or an app you granted access to it deleted it. It's near impossible for a bunch of files to disappear on their own.

I also just had this. Super annoying. I swear I didn't do anything special and definitely didn't delete all my pictures from my gallery. All the photos I had took with my camera were suddenly gone. I have 5 apps that have access to Photos and Videos

        3 GrapheneOS apps

        • Gallery
        • Messaging
        • Settings

        2 Other apps

        • Signal
        • Proton Mail

        Any help with this?

Actually there is a chance that all images disappearing could be due to user error. It could also be both, but at least you should watch out for this user error, that I almost did:

I went to gallery app. I see albums in grid view (at least I do). The first album is "Camera". I wanted to delete the latest picture I took. In stead of first clicking the "Camera" album, and then inside the album holding down on the latest pic and deleting it, I just held down the "Camera" album, and almost deleted the whole album. Glad I caught my finger before doing it.

I believe that solving the problem of disappearing images (if you are certain you haven't done anything on your end) is something trivial like clearing the app cache or at most deleting the AOSP Gallery app user data followed by a reboot or force stopping/opening again to apply the changes.

I'm having the same problem. I'm using the galley app only on a Google pixel 7a and photos taken that are in camera and messaging are disappearing. I have all screenshot photos still available. May be disappearing after reboot? I looked to see if there was an automatic delete of photos or files that you could set or adjust but couldn't find anything. Usure but really annoying problem if anyone can shed some light on this matter that would be great tia.

dm98317 Can you still find the files using the Files app? If you use a different gallery app, does the app display the images?

I have the same problem after a multiple update and an update of the photo app. Known recover apps didn't do anything. Can we have root access to try deep scan?

Hello guys. It also happened on my brother's phone. We installed GrapheneOS around April/May. The photos at my brother's phone were gone around September/October 2024.

We can also not find it through the files app.
