Glitchy UI makes GOS almost unusuable

Not sure if this should be tagged dev or general.

Sometimes GOS will just not like gesture controls interacting with the menu or whatever it's called (switching apps, going to home screen).

Have a recorded a vid but idk where to upload. Not sure which version of GOS I'm using but phone says I'm up to date.

lockdown Hi there, there's a new release which might fix your issue. It's currently in the alpha release channel, and all being well, it will arrive in the stable channel in the next day or two.

We haven't had other reports of this kind of issue. Did you try reinstalling GrapheneOS without installing the same apps as you did before? It's likely caused by a bug triggered by an app you're using. If you're using any accessibility service, the issue is likely a bug in the accessibility service rather than the OS. If it's caused by another kind of app, then it's probably an AOSP bug triggered by that app which few people are using.

Hi there, thanks for coming back. I had updated my device when the update first came but am still experiencing the same issue (it is actually happening on the Pixel Pro 7 I am using right now).

It seems nobody knows what is causing the problem or how to fix it. I'm sure this is just as frustrating for the dev team as it is for users. Unfortunately it does render the device unusable so I'll be jumping off the GOS train now. Good luck with this project!

You didn't happen to make changes to any system apps did you?

If you're prepared to do this, it would be useful to know whether you have the same issues following a factory reset, and even after flashing back stock Pixel OS.

Another thing you can do is to generate a bug report in developer options immediately after the issue occurs. You can ask in https://matrix.to/#/#testing:grapheneos.org if a developer could look at the bug report for you. Don't share it publicly as it can contain PII.

Blastoidea I haven't seen this one before, but there's a couple of launcher related issues filed on GrapheneOS issue tracker that are still open. I myself occasionally experience one that is difficult to reproduce. It's not enough of an issue for me, but I can relate to OP's woes.

Blastoidea I'm surprised more people haven't encountered it tbh. It crops up at least once a week and doesn't fix itself until I restart it. I saw somewhere that it could be due to something with switching profiles, which I do a lot, so maybe that's why - i.e. others don't switch profiles as often.

I'm not sure what a launcher related issue is but it sounds like an issue that occurs when the OS boots up. Not the case here, this only ever happens mid-use and while I wish I could recreate it on command, I have no idea what the trigger is.

greenmonster don't know what that is so I'm going to say no. Downloaded and installed it according to the instructions GOS gave.

I've had some gesture issues but I'm not sure if its me or the phone .
Getting the pin screen to open is sometimes hard , answering calls takes a few swipes sometimes .

I have installed on P6s, P6as and a P7a. Haven't experienced such issues, except for occasional - fairly rare - time when a screen on my personal P6 wouldn't wake up after a tap, having to resort to pressing the power button.

I ascribed this to the brand of screen protector inatalled...

The other small-ish issue I have is a delay when taking a photo. It's about a second between pressing a shutter and photo being taken, tangibly longer than any other device I have ever used.

So nothing akin to OP's issues. Mine are easy to overlook and it would take a lot to dissuade me, plus my prior devices (mostly A∆∆!e) had their own quirks that drove me mad.

If anyone has tips to alleviate such quirks, please share.

I also have this. I keep thinking this is intended behavior that I don't understand. Thankfully, it doesn't happen too often.
