Hi all,
attempted today to transfer some pictures from my Pixel 6 Pro to my Linux PC (Framework Laptop 13) as usual, and was surprised to see that the phone would readily charge but not appear in the Nautilus list of devices. Activating the "Transfer files" option in the USB menu on the phone would not do anything either.
This is quite some annoyance since I hate sending pictures to myself over e-mail but that's basically the only thing that works for file transfer at the moment.
I'm sure this worked a week ago but since I am not making frequent use of USB file transfer, I cannot tell exactly since when it stopped. The recent release notes don't say anything about changes in the USB realm but maybe I have missed something.
I tried multiple USB-C cables, ports, and multiple computers (and different ports there) as well. A Windows 10 machine consistently tells me in the Device Manager that the device cannot be identified, no matter what mode I set on it or what cable/port I use. This is definitely new.
It takes surprisingly long until the phone detects the USB connection at all, this is also something that I can observe only since the connection stopped working. It will charge, also do quick charging, so this is only about the data connection.
Some info from the "About phone" menu:
Baseband version is g5123b-116954-230511-B-10112789
Bootloader version is slider-1.2-9883526
Kernel version is 5.10.186-android13-4-g66f9995aa3d3 #1 Thu Jul 6 18:37:43 UTC 2023
Build number is TQ3A.230705.001.2023072600
Here's what Linux dmesg has to say while I connect the phone and set it up for file transfer:
[ 7032.413276] usb 3-6.3.2: new high-speed USB device number 41 using xhci_hcd

[ 7056.727636] usb 3-6.3-port2: unable to enumerate USB device
That's clearly not the usual thing.
I may not be the only one having this issue. Please let me know what I can contribute to ease the troubleshooting.
