Can a seedvault backup be restored on the same phone in another profile?

I have a backup of my main profile on a usb thumb. For some reason I have never been able to restore it in another user profile of the same phone. Every time I tried, I was met with an error message telling me there isn't any seedvault backup in the selected location (which was definitely not true). Is that normal?
Seedvault seems to act normal apart from that, i.e. everything looks good when it's backing up.

It's a bummer, because right now I have no idea if I could restore my backup if I ever need to reset my phone/buy a new one.

bayerelm If restoring from USB drive doesn't work during setup wizard of the new user profile, you could skip that. Then once setup wizard is complete, transfer backup into the internal storage of your new user profile. Then open Settings > System > Backups > 3 dots > Restore.

If the restore doesn't work that way either, then it's likely the restore would not work after a phone reset either.

Delete the original Seedvault backup, and create a new one. Try that until you're able to restore the backup in the new user profile.

For these reliability issues, I don't use Seedvault myself. I just use app-specific backups, and install all apps manually after reset.

I did that multiple times actually but still, I never managed to restore a backup. Are there some requirements to Seedvault that I am not aware of? Does it need a specific filesystem, for instance? I only tried on drives formatted in ExFAT and FAT32.

I try to do that as much as I can as well, but it's a lot less convenient than an all-around solution like Seedvault, if it worked. :/ I've read that a GOS backup solution is in the works, I'm really looking forward to it.

bayerelm Seedvault is beyond broken yet people love to suggest it. Forget it exists if you try to use it you'll always end up disappointed and stressed
