There isn't a desktop version of Graphene.
I can see that. They've done such a good job here. It may not translate well on over desktop wise.... But there must be something close ?

Here is what I have in mind.
I know there are MAC address changers. Yes but there must already be an OS on the market that automatically protects there users by sending out random false hardware/software information without having to manually keep one up yourself ?

I know ID printing is a thing today so I'm assuming there's something out today that could be left on auto.

I know there is Winox and Cube but from what I understand they strictly run through TOR and you can't download anything.
I would be completely OK with the auto hardware scrambling attached to a VPN. I must be able to share and download as I please.

Other things I can't think of. I heard python auto comes with an RSS client attached ?

Please keep in mind that I am no coder so installation must be simple or at least simple instructions.

You're referring to Qubes-Whonix? Not everything is run through Tor in Qubes, only Sys-Whonix, and you're able to download whatever you want, it's just a good security practice not to download random things off of the internet, but that goes for the entire internet not just Tor or the dark web.

GrapheneOS is based on AOSP which itself is based on Linux(the kernel). Android is Linux. So the closest translation you'll get to GrapheneOS on the desktop or laptop is Linux, you'll need to find a distro that suites your needs and works on your hardware. If you can install GrapheneOS on you're phone then you can install most Linux distributions, it's not super difficult and distros usually have guides on their website as well. If you want to go down that path, I'm happy to help with any questions you might have.

Linux is a Kernel. Those so called Linux distributions are just Operating systems based on the Linux Kernel. AOSP is superior to any Linux desktop distribution, because of lot of things like: kernel profiling only avaliable via adb, SELinux enforced properly with highly restrictive domains unlike many Linux desktop distrobutions, powerful seccomp-filters, system, boot and vendor partitions being read-only, runtime permissions, etc.

[deleted] Yes, I was a little loose with my terminology, but I'm aware of the nuances of the terminology that I used, and I wanted to get my point across more than I want to play semantics. My point was that it's as close as you're gonna get, not necessarily that it's super similar, but nothing really is, they're two completely different form factors with completely different use cases and completely different security, UI, and UX needs. I personally don't think that AOSP is superior to other Linux distributions, I believe they're simply just different, not necessarily that either one is better than the other, agree to disagree?

Just yesterday I came across https://puri.sm/ They have notebooks, a mini and also servers. I came across them, as they seem to be without the Intel Management Engine, which could be a potential backdoor. They offer their PureOS which seems to be a reasonable Linux distribution. Though I haven't tried it myself yet and not checked it out nor compared it in detail.

Matth Read their specs first. Purism have a tendency to use very old tech specifications on their gear. Certainly on their phones they do.
