Ellipse shape on a lockscreen

I apologize for noob question, but what's the ellipse shape below the fingerprint reader? Shows up only when 'Multiple users' is enabled. I can't figure out its purpose.

It's not always present but I struggle to deduce the pattern and logic of its appearance.

That looks like the place that the "End Session" option would be at. Is this on the Owner profile, or a secondary one?

I think the fact that it appears without text means you're likely looking at Owner (where the End Session feature doesn't aply) and there's some AOSP bug that makes that little button appear there.

In fact if I 'End Session' in one of my secondary profiles, it switches me to the Owner and before I do the first unlock of the Owner, proper 'End Session' button (with text) is present in the Owner too. If I click on it just refreshes my screen and 'End Session' button disappears. This I first noticed today.
