Sounds like a hard to find solution for free. Tutanota comes to mind, you should check them out. Looks like they give you one free calendar to share and export (plus encrypted email). I'm on their old pricing tier so I can't see whether it has feature parity for the new free tier calendars.

Otherwise you might want to activate some MacGyver skills and combine three services:

  • Simple Calendar Pro (from F-Droid repository) for offline calendar access, exporting and lots of customization
  • Any supported online calendar for sharing (e.g. Google, Nextcloud etc.)
  • A sync tool like DavX5 for full sync (if you have a server to host this) or ICSx5 for read-only sync

@N1b this is what I ended up doing after trying all the different calendars including proton with a premium plan. It seemed very intimidating at first but was ultimately not a big deal in the end. Now I use nextcloud for everything (contacts, calendar, photos, cloud storage, etc)

There are privacy focused cloud servers you can use but I just bought a $50 mini PC off eBay and it's been working flawlessly.

    At this point use Simple Calendar Pro (also from F-Droid repository) which updates Etar. IIUC, Etar updates the "Android calendar" data structure which can then be accessed by my watch. My watch can then sound active alarms and display forthcoming alarms/events.
    I periodically, unsuccessfully, attempt to tie in Proton Calendar for backup and remote access purposes.

      Eirikr70 No. Changes made to the SCP calendar are also made automatically to the Etar calendar. I do not believe that this is via the "Android calendar" data structure, but guessing it is instead done app to app when authorized. SCP is designated an "offline calendar" within Etar.

          newbie24689 This is not quite right. Both SCP and Etar are client calendar apps. They can communicate with 1) a local storage repository, or 2) a CALDAV Server (Google, Nextcloud, Ete Sync, Mailbox.org etc) or 3) both.
          Neither SCP nor Etar rely on each other.

            Removing yourself from storing your info on someone elses computer often ends with up you just find alternative ways to do the same on you own computer. There's a reason why cloudstorage and cloudsync was invented.

            Nextcloud is one of the best solutions. So far. Just expand with tools to fit your needs.

            Don't forget do encrypted backup to a remote location in case of fire.

            DeletedUser213 What are you using to view your NC calendar on your phone? I guess you have to set up webdav (which I know nothing about)?

                standarshy My recommendation would be aCalendar+ together with DAVx5 (because my calendar is with mailbox.org).
