So new convert to grapheneOS on a Pixel 7 Pro and really happy with it so far, super stable and has everything I need.

When I setup my phone, I created two user accounts, a main one and a personal one with some of the sandboxed google apps and so on. This works perfectly, if I reset my phone it turns on to an almost entirely blank profile, which I what I want. Most of the time, when I'm in a low-risk environment, I use the secondary profile.

There are two things I have found that do not work (I'll post the other one separately since I'm not 100% sure it's related to profiles). One of these is enabling a hotspot to share my connection. For some reason this only works on the primary profile.

Is there a setting or something I can change to enable the secondary profile to control the hotspot, or is this a hard restriction?

Ben_Zene The network settings apply globally, and many of them can only be managed from the owner profile. That applies to hotspots.

That is a hard restriction upstream from AOSP.

Note that tethering (hotspots) can't be routed through your VPN, if you're using one, either.

      treequell OK, thanks for clarifying!

I hadn't realized the bit about VPNs but that's not really an issue, I can just run the VPN on the tethered device as well.
