Tile App - new version (2.117.0) fails to load (2.114.0) works fine

Received an update for the TILE app (for tracking my bicycle) - the newest version (2.117.0) never loads. Toggling Exploit Protection Compatibility Mode - has no effect.

Downgraded to version 2.114.0 - and the app works fine.

From where did you obtain the app? Play Store or somewhere else?

Make sure you have native code debugging enabled in Settings > Security (option only available in Owner profile, not secondary ones).

I downloaded 2.117.0 from Google Play - and when it didn't work I got 2.114.0 from APKMirror... (note-prefer to use Aurora but it still gives me that irritating rate limit error - even with the newest version :( )

I went back and turned on native code debugging and now 2.117.0 works - thanks for the tip.

Curious why 2.114.0 works w/o native code debugging but 2.117.0 does not???

lcalamar They likely added some silly checks that means it's now required to change it from the previous version to the new one.

Many of these apps have their own crude anti-tampering mechanisms trying to prevent inspecting or modifying the app in a weak attempt to hide their code and API from security researchers. GrapheneOS allows users to disable native code debugging via a toggle in Settings ➔ Security to improve the app sandbox and this can interfere with apps debugging their own code to add a barrier to analyzing the app. You should try enabling this again if you've disabled it and are encountering compatibility issues with these kinds of apps.

Just updated Tile App through Aurora. It installed but when I clicked on it to open it up, it went straight to Google Play and requested sign in which I didn't do.

After seeing this thread after doing a search, tried uninstalling and downloading older version as per OP from APKMirror but this wouldn't install; kept coming up with incomplete file or corrupt.

Went and checked Tile at Play Store on the PC and looked at the permissions required; and there was a reference to Google Play services being enabled and IIRC Google Play license check. I have tried turning back on native code debugging with no luck on the install.

Any ideas as to where to go now? have used this since I changed to grapheneOS back in January with no problems but rather peeved that this no longer works.

tried installing it from Play Store with native code debugging on and success. Installed ok and tried it with and without native code and it works with and without.... strange.

BTW, installed grapheneOS back in January on Pixel 6a and glad that I did. Spreading the word around about GOS and letting people know how tracked they are with the crap they put on their phones...have converted some.

I just checked and it has stopped working for me too... Launching the tile app takes me to Google Play app. Not sure when I updated it...

Same problem.
Installed Tile through Aurora, native code debugging enabled, brings me straight to Playstore sign in when opening Tile.
Didn't try to install via Playstore as I don't have an account.

Has anyone been able to get Tile tracking to work on their device? I tried using the method described in this thread but alas, I too am ushered straight to Google Play sign-in

When I first install it and log into Tile it works, I can see my tags and ring them. Once closed and then reopened it goes straight to google play sign in (which I am not doing). Following thread in case there's any updates

Tried this with debugging enabled (which it appeared to be already, by default); no success. I used Tile downloaded from Play store (re-downloaded it just to be sure), but I did not get the attempted connection to pay store when opening the app. Instead I got a message saying play services are not installed, which of course they are. Very strange, but I could not get a different result no matter what permissions I gave it.

IDK what's going on with Tile but I hope this problem can be fixed. Samsung smart tags never worked at all on these phones and was hoping Tile would be available. If not, may need to use air tags with an ipad or maybe an old iPod touch or something.
