Buying a New Phone for GrapheneOS

I'm saving up money for a pixel phone but the problem is, the phone isn't available in my country locally and from the google store either.

Should I:
A) Make an amazon account with my debit card to buy a pixel phone then flash GrapheneOS?
B) Buy phone from nitrokey with bitcoin to buy a pixel phone that comes with pre-installed GrapheneOS?

What do you guys think? Do you have a better advice for me?

Nitrokey overcharges for their products. They have the 7a listed for $785.56 USD (128GB storage) not including any taxes and shipping costs whereas the same one is listed for $499 (currently on sale for $449).

Depends on where the best deal comes from. Nitrokey may be overpriced, but depending on shipping and import duties, it could actually work out cheaper than ordering it from overseas/amazon/etc. All depends on who charges what for getting the thing to you.

Not sure if this applies to you or where you live. But before Pixels were available in Sweden it seems like people usually ordered from fnac.com in France, or from Google Store in Germany through mailboxde.com

Also make sure it's both carrier and bootloader unlocked. Most sellers don't even mention it.

Thanks for all of your thoughts! I guess I'll pick go for the first option. I'll have to reconsider if I should buy one on amazon or not. Flashing the OS by myself does give me a peace of mind than trusting other people to do it (not saying nitrokey isn't trustworthy tho).

In Amazon, check the seller. Look for "Sold by Amazon", instead of random marketplace sellers.

I recommend ebay. Youll find better deals there with decent shipping costs. Also authentic devices.

[deleted] in my experience buying multiple several-hundred-dollar electronic, that's not been the case at all. Ebay has been really reliable. In fact there is also customer protection and return policy. You just have to know how to filter your search results and make sure the seller has enough good reputation.

I have had a good experience with ebay so far. I bought my pixel 6a for 280$ when everywhere else it was 350-400.

I agree with @[deleted] -- ebay is a shitshow. Use only as a last resort for things that you just can't get ANYWHERE else. Like an A/C clutch for a Subaru (everywhere else wants to sell you the entire pump for $1000!)
