Lock screen bug when switching between profiles

Hello,

I recently have noticed that sometimes, when I switch from one profile to my owner profile, the lock screen after doing that never gives the option to use biometrics (fingerprint). Not even when I unlock the phone with a PIN for the first time. I have no clue how to fix this, and I have no intention of restarting my phone every time I switch profile, as that seems like the only way to fix it, until i switch profiles.

I got the same bug. After you unlock the profile with your PIN, if it keeps asking for the PIN every time you need to unlock it, a workaround is to open an app that requires biometrics. It's as if the feature gets "activated" and will be available for you the next time you try to unlock the phone.

Not sure if this is the same issue I've observed. It seems the biometrics get turned off somehow after an update.
The workaround I've found, which may or may not apply to your situation, is to go to Settings -> Security -> Fingerprint, then disable and re-enable "Allow fingerprint unlocking".
It should then work like normal. At least until the next update, I guess!

impending4519 Thanks for the tip! Unfortunately though, that did not work for me :( I do have cash app, and set it to require biometrics to enter. Launching that seems to fix it.

DeletedUser301 I did search for other topics regarding this issue. I found one I think, but didn't get the answer I needed. Also, I've been experiencing it more after the July security patch for some reason, which is another reason why I posted this issue even though there was still another post about it. Things aren't always what they seem...

DeletedUser301 I did not see the answers I was looking for. Besides, as I said before, I wanted to make it more apparent to others (As the post you linked was from 6 days ago), which was before July patch.

PatzEdi Why do you think you will get any different answers than the one given on the other post? It's the same community with the same members. So, obviously the answers will be the same. Plus, this issue is going on for more than a month. I still do not understand the point of posting the same issue over and over again just because the month has changed. You could have just reported your issue on the other post and someone would have replied you there. That post is still active and being replied on. Are we in a competition to see whose post will get more responses?

I am sorry if creating a duplicate post was such a huge problem, and I did not expect someone to make it such a big deal in their life, regarding your response I am replying to now. I apologize if I made a mistake, as I recently joined the Graphene OS community. Arguing is a strong word for this case, as I am pointing out your choice of words in your first post and how it did not seem so nice, rather than attacking you directly in a rude way. For those of you reading this discussion, I am sorry you are having this issue, and please let me know if deleting this discussion is the best thing I should do for everyone's sanity. Competition is the last thing I would want in this community, as I am loving the OS and it has exactly what I need in order to be successful in life. All I wanted to do was help. I believe this discussion is closed either way, as others in this discussion, and especially other discussions regarding the same topic, have already covered some useful solutions for everyone to take advantage of.

It's an ill practice to create multiple posts for the same reason especially when the post before you is still active and being replied on. And on top of that, you are still arguing.

In the future I would probably continue with an existing thread, posting your new question inside of it.

That being said, I think soulkeeper is taking an unnecessarily aggressive stance with you. Please don't let it turn you off from the community or from reaching out when you need assistance.

PatzEdi There is a reason why almost all the communities request the users to not create multiple posts for the same reason. When multiple posts are created for the same reason, it becomes a mess and many other posts get lost in between. If there is one post for one issue, then it becomes easy for others to follow. Multiple posts for the same issue means some people will reply on this post and some people will response of the other post which makes it difficult for others to keep a track.
