FOSS Calendar App with Notifications?

Is there a FOSS calendar app out there with event notifications that works without Google Play Services?

I've been using Etar as long as I can remember, but the notifications only work if I open the app.

I'm also using Etar and getting notifications with no problem - check your settings/permissions. Allowed should be Calendar, Contacts and Notifications and that's all.

Fodder If you're happy to open an account with them, you can use Tutanota. That has a online calendar, and push notifications will work without Google Play Services.

Oggyo Etar doesn't support widgets which with me is a big no no. I need to have my monthly calendar preview always at hand (homescreen). That's why I use Simple Calendar (offline).

The OP didn't ask for widgets :) Actually, it has one 2x3. But personally, I use MinCal Widget - available on F-Droid or https://github.com/mvmike/min-cal-widget
Somehow, I don't like the Simple apps suite. But again, this is just my preference.

treequell Tutanota is great, even free to use, premium upgrade optional. The only issue I have with it is that it doesn't autostart after reboot. I have set my phone to restart after every 4 hours of inactivity, so you can imagine I have to restart the app in order to get it going every time I wake up. But this is just my problem.

treequell just to remind you, I don't use Google Play Services. App is running with unrestricted battery, with Network, Notifications, Sensors and Contacts allowed. Exploit protection turned off. Best way to simulate is to reboot and after couple of minutes check running processes. It isn't there. I don't want to go too far into this, as I said it is my problem.
