Does GrapheneOS require camera to operate?

I'm thinking about making the switch to have a separate phone to use while traveling to minimize my attack surface while abroad. I'd like to physically disable the cameras on the phone, will that interfere with the operation of GrapheneOS or the phone itself?

spacecowboy I couldn't guarantee it but I don't think it should interfere. There's a company NitroKey that sells pixels with gos and they offer a service to desolder the mic and cameras on it.

edit: however my understanding is it's very easy to damage the phone in the process of trying to do that.

[deleted] Removing the cameras from the phone. Since there's no physical killswitch, easiest way to ensure that they aren't the subject of an attack is to totally disable the camera by removing it.

Edit: Just checked, they charge a pretty penny for the service ($300US to remove), and not super comfortable with a private company setting up the phone and OS. I'll look into the process of removing the cameras.

spacecowboy I trust quick toggles to block mic and camera access. But for you it may not be sufficient.
